Our Mission
Prepare young people in a safe and inclusive environment to be leaders and individuals of strong character.
The mission of Northern Star Scouting is to "Prepare young people in a safe and inclusive environment to be leaders and individuals of strong character." Our vision is to ensure that "All youth have the character, confidence, and experience to improve the world."
Scouting is an ongoing adventure that teaches a powerful set of real-life skills and develops fundamental qualities that help young people become prepared for life. Scouting gives young people the opportunity to try new things. It helps young people strengthen their ability to make good decisions, take personal responsibility for their actions, develop good relationships with adult role models, set goals and achieve them, take on leadership roles, develop a service ethic, and work as team members to accomplish tasks. Our focus is on developing the whole person, with opportunities for growth, success, and increased self-esteem at each age level.
Our 30-county territory includes 26 Minnesota counties (Anoka, Carlton, Carver, Chippewa, Chisago, Cook, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, Lake, Le Sueur, McLeod, Meeker, Pine, Ramsey, Renville, Rice, Scott, Saint Louis, portions of Stearns, portions of Swift, Washington, Wright, and Yellow Medicine) and four western Wisconsin counties (Burnett, Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix).
